{"id":94,"date":"2018-04-21T07:21:54","date_gmt":"2018-04-21T07:21:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ksl.ac.ke\/ksllib\/?page_id=94"},"modified":"2019-02-13T14:20:40","modified_gmt":"2019-02-13T14:20:40","slug":"service-charter","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.ksl.ac.ke\/ksllib\/service-charter\/","title":{"rendered":"Service Charter"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><span lang=\"EN-GB\">OBJECTIVE OF THE CHARTER<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Library has developed this  Charter for the students and staff of Kenya School of Law.The charter outlines the  services and standards expected from us and how you can help us improve our services to you.<\/p>\n<p><strong>VISION<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>To be the ideal legal information hub for research and dissemination in the East African region and beyond.<\/p>\n<p><strong>MISSION<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>To offer quality information service on demand and the anticipation for professionals and other actors in the legal sector.<\/p>\n<p><strong>CORE FUNCTIONS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>To offer information services to esteemed clientele both for literary and research purposes in the legal profession while upholding universal standards that promote fundamental information access rights\/principles (e.g.\u00a0 Laws of library science).<\/p>\n<p>Specifically we;<br \/>\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Increase the validity of acquisition and collection development decisions.<br \/>\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Offer quality information literacy instructions by effective use of library\/ERC information resources.<br \/>\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Offer current information access and retrieval technology to save on the clientele time.<br \/>\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Offer improved service tailored to the needs of  users and research<\/p>\n<p><strong>OUR CORE VALUES<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>To offer services in an efficient &#038; effective manner.\u00a0 In our quest to meet users expectations, we stand guided by the following values;<br \/>\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Equal clients, equal service all the time<br \/>\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Impartiality and fairness<br \/>\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Team spirit, discipline, respect and courtesy<br \/>\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Principle, integrity, transparency and accountability<br \/>\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Commitment and dedication to duty.<br \/>\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Professionalism<br \/>\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Proactive approach to a changing environment<\/p>\n<p><strong>OUR CLIENTS <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Our clients include:<br \/>\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 ATP\/PL students<br \/>\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 KSL staff<br \/>\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Alumni<br \/>\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Community<\/p>\n<p><strong>OUR AIM<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We aim to:<br \/>\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Provide access to information services and resources in a timely manner to meet users information needs<br \/>\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Assist users in using library services and resources<br \/>\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Offer training to enable users to retrieve and use information resources that will foster the acquiring of life-long learning skills<br \/>\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Work collaboratively with users to develop library resources and services to support the teaching and learning programs of the School.<br \/>\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Continuously improve the resources and services we provide<\/p>\n<p>Contribute to the legal training at the Kenya School of Law via Library and electronic resource center  (ERC) as a bridge and increase public confidence in the legal training and research by fair\/equitable and independent dispensation of information as a service to all clients.<\/p>\n<p><strong>CLIENTS\u2019 RESPONSIBILITY<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>You can help us to provide reliable and efficient service by;<br \/>\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Engaging us in positive and constructive criticism<br \/>\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Sharing ideas on how best we can improve Library in relation set  standards.<br \/>\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Participating in the information literacy programme.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>OUR RANGE OF SERVICES<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We provide the following services<br \/>\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Provide access to information resources<br \/>\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Provide assistance in using the information resources<br \/>\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Support clients to enable them develop the skills needed to fulfill their current and future information needs.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span lang=\"EN-GB\">COMMITTMENT TO SERVICE DELIVERY<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We are committed to;<br \/>\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Undertake speedy, efficient, effective and equitable information service delivery to all.<br \/>\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Continuously and professionally run the information literacy programme on remedial basis.<br \/>\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Minimize the response time to your enquiries and complaints.<br \/>\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Treat all your information, concerns with confidentiality and give it the urgency it deserves<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>OUR STANDARDS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The library is committed to meeting the needs of our clients professionally as follows:<\/p>\n<p><strong>1.<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<strong> Equal service all the time<\/strong><br \/>\nWe provide services on demand to all while  ensuring  the library and e-resource center is accessible to every client.<\/p>\n<p><strong>2.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Information desk<\/strong><br \/>\nThis is the  library\u2019s talking point for all clients where all enquiries are responded to courteously<\/p>\n<p><strong>3.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Information literacy &#038; competency training  programme<\/strong><br \/>\nWe will oversee this programme for the purpose of maximizing the centre\u2019s information potential.It&#8217;s aimed at ensuring maximum use of available information resources<\/p>\n<p><strong>COMPLAINTS &amp; FEEDBACK<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We aspire to continue improving our service delivery.We therefore appreciate feedback on our  performance. We believe that constructive engagement with our clients and stakeholders will help us improve our service delivery.
