The library is divided into various sections. These are,
1.The Reserve Section
This is the section located at the entry / exit of the library. This area few copies of books we find to be in great demand. Most of the books are in the open shelves as well. Please note that the books in this section are meant to be read only inside the library. This is in the efforts to ensure that at every time there are copies of these books in the library.
At the reserve section, we also have laws of Kenya, Bound Acts, Constitution and Some Subject files. We need to clarify that the subject files are just supplementary materials and NOT class notes. Another important thing to note is that not all lecturers have the subject files and its not a requirement. Most of there files are digitized already and the library is moving towards getting rid of the hard copies.
2. The Open Shelves / Reading Area
This is the entire area on the left after the stairs. The books in this area can be borrowed out for a period of one week. The only materials in this section that cannot be taken out of the library are the Law Reports and Dictionaries.
This is the room on the first floor, on the right after the stairs. This section has; Laws of Kenya, Special Reports from various Commissions, Dictionaries, Training materials for Continuing Professional Development and other non Law core materials
4.The Electronic Resource Center
This is located on the first floor of the library. When fully furnished, this section should have 80 computers. This area is to be used for study and research. The rules of the library apply here too. Downloading of obscene materials, watching of movies or playing of music is not allowed.
