How do I apply for the Paralegal Training programme?
Applications for the programme are online through our website application portal http://applications.ksl.ac.ke/ or via the KUCCPS website.
Do you have this course part-time or full-time?
The programme is offered on both a full-time and part-time basis. Part-time classes include weekday evenings from 5 pm to 8 pm.
Do you offer online training?
Yes, we offer both physical and online training. We offer physical classes at both our Karen Campus along Langata South Road and our Town Campus located at Development House, 5th and 6th Floor, Moi Avenue, Nairobi CBD.
Is the programme available on a part-time basis?
At the moment, we offer online evening classes
What are the admission requirements for the PTP programme?
For admission into the Diploma in Law in the Paralegal Training Programme, an applicant must meet any of the following criteria:
- A mean grade of C (plain) in Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (K.C.S.E) examination or its equivalent with at least C+ (plus) in English or Kiswahili;
- At least one principal pass at the Kenya Advanced Certificate of Education (K.A.C.E) examination;
- A pass in a certificate of law course offered at an accredited legal education provider; or
- A certificate of experiential learning issued by the Council of Legal Education.
Note: Applicants holding secondary school qualifications other than those offered by the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) must seek an equation from the Kenya National Qualifications Authority (KNQA).
How long is the training?
The programme shall last for a minimum period of two (2) academic years, comprising three (3) terms of lectures offered by the School in each year.
To qualify for the award of the Diploma in Law (Paralegal Studies), candidates must complete the course of study for not less than two (2) academic years and not more than three (3) academic years.
When do applications for the programme open?
Typically, applications for the programme come after the release of KCSE results, and classes start in May every year. We announce exact application dates on our website and across our various social media channels.
Do we have financial aid for this programme?
We have the Kenya School of Law Legal Education Fund that is managed by the Higher Education Loan Board (HELB). The availability of the funds, however, is announced on a year-on-year basis.
Where do graduates typically work?
Graduates of the programme can become paralegals, administrators, process servers, research assistants, legal secretaries, legal clerks, and legal assistants in law firms; the Judiciary Ministries and Department in the National and County Governments.
What documents do you need to apply?
Applicants of the programme need to submit the following documents:
- Copy of K.C.S.E./K.C.E./K.A.C.E. certificate or equivalent; (NB: Result slips will only be accepted for the current year’s K.C.S.E. candidates)
- Copy of national identity card;
- A passport-size colour photograph;
Is the PTP recognised and accredited?
Yes. The Paralegal Training Programme is administered by the Kenya School of Law and is accredited by the Council of Legal Education (CLE).
